Hello All,

We are hopefully going to make it to the Buzz this Sat. March 11th from 9:30 – 12:00.  Hope the rain holds off.

Hopefully everyone is getting ready for spring.  We are!!  We have new baby lambs,  baby pigs, and the baby chicks are coming next week.  Starting some seeds and digging around some in the garden.

We are SOLD OUT  of All Chicken, SORRY!!    We do have a good selection of Pork, Beef and Lamb.   With the Eggs the hens have slowed down a little so come earlier in the day than later.  Last month we did bring some mediums home, so last month we did have plenty.   Let me know if there is anything that you want me to bag up for you.   Thanks, Emily

We are hoping to come to the Buzz on:  April 8th, May 13th, May 27th, June 10th, June 24th, July 8th and July 22nd .   As you can see starting in May we hope to come the second and fourth Saturdays of the month and then through Oct.

Thanks,

Emily

Hello All,

For those of you who have enjoyed our bacon over the years.   Have you noticed a problem with it in the past year.  We have and it tasted old a batch or two.  Also this last time or so the slicing was irregular.

If you have noticed any problems please let me know and we will refund your money and or get you some new bacon. Let me know if you liked the original smoked kind or the Applewood.  Let me know.

We have been talking to the locker and hopefully it is getting rectified

Thanks, Emily

Don’t let the word “organic” fool you by seamusford

After many years of small family farms growing awareness and  demand for organic food we find ourselves in a new era.

A movement rooted in the values of community,  sustainability and family farming now must compete with a counter movement rooted mostly in profit.   Organics or more specifically their popularity has attracted big money.

People may be aware that a number of large grocery chains have increased their organic product lines.  On the surface this seems like a good thing.  More and more people are seeing the value and common sense of organic food, but that very popularity may be hurting organics.   Large groceries have massive supply chains that involve extensive transportation.  The longer it takes food to get from farm to table, the less fresh and thus less valuable it becomes.

This dilemma incentivizes, tempts and or forces large scale groceries to make adjustments that exploit minimalistic and non-comprehensive government standards and in some cases render an organic label meaningless.

There remains a vast difference between buying organic directly from a family farm and buying it in a grocery.  We are grateful to our customers who know this difference and continue to support us.

To learn more about this concerning trend in organics, please take some time out to read this recent article in Ecofarming Daily.
